Mai’s Cupcakes
So I’ve been craving cupcake in Tokyo recently and decided to try out Mai’s Cupcake because I had some things to take care of nearby. About a 2 minute work from Hiroo station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, I make a turn into a street and right away I spot Mai’s Cupcake. You can tell what I mean by taking a look at the picture. It really stands out with their packaging storefront design.
I wanted to try out as much flavors as I could, so I bought a bite-size pack which consisted on 2 mini chocolate and vanilla cupcakes each. Unfortunately, all bite-size sets only had 2 different flavors. I was not allowed to mix and match as it was already packaged. Furthermore, I also bought a mint, NY style, and strawberry regular-sized cupcakes. The only flavor cupcake that I didn’t get to try was the cappuccino flavor. It’s not like it wasn’t in stock today, but I just didn’t want to spend more to buy another cupcake and I’m not really a coffee flavor fan. There were also brownies that I wanted to try, but I tried really hard to stop me from buying more as I already bought enough.
I didn’t have lunch yet, so I wanted to go eat some real food first. That was a bad idea. I should have taken pictures and eaten the cupcakes there. Why? Well, let’s just say I got a little rough.
Now, let’s talk about the taste. I was not satisfied. Sure, the cupcakes looked nice, but I just didn’t enjoy it. The cupcakes weren’t as soft and the taste wasn’t that great. To be honest, I rather have cupcakes made from those Betty Crocker cupcake mixes. The cupcakes weren’t sweet enough for me, and it just didn’t have that “wow” taste to it.
